I hired a window company to replace several windows in my house. I was shocked to find that there was serious water damage to the window frames and studs under the window boxes. There was also damage to the sheet rock and insulation. The window company had to stop work. I emailed and spoke with a handful of contractors to do this repair. Most didn't call back to schedule an estimate. I paid one contractor nearly $600 to do thermal imaging and some moisture tests only to tell me we have an unknown amount of damage in the walls. I already knew that. I felt very uneasy with that contractor for a few other reasons. I had tarps and plywood covering what were once windows and felt stuck. I had no idea what I was looking at cost-wise but knew the first contractor's ballpark unofficial idea of a price was crushing. My wife's friend found ZVA on Facebook for us. The owner, Zach called us immediately when we expressed interest and within a day or two sent his estimator Nick. In literally less than five minutes, I trusted Nick. I felt like I found a contractor that was interested in helping me with my problem, that I was a valued customer, not just a payday. We had an open conversation about what he believed to be the extent of the damages vs. what could be. Zach put an estimate together. We had to open three walls from the inside and remove siding and open a wall on the outside, so as to spare ripping out my kitchen. The estimate allowed my heart to restart. And we didn't know 100% for sure what was behind those walls. We were certain there was the structural damage and some mold on the sheetrock. I hired Zach and he sent his team in to do the work. They could only do enough at first to allow the window company to install the windows. After ZVA completed most of the work, they returned after the window installation to do the final finishing work. His crew was on time, very neat, took good care of my home with tarps and clean-up, friendly and answered any questions I had. The work they did was incredible. I would never have believed they could do the extent of tearing out and rebuilding without leaving a trace of evidence that such work had been done. His carpenters are so incredibly skilled. Zach showed up himself the first day and the last day to inspect when his crew was done. I think he came in the middle too, but with so much going on, I'm not sure. Their work was great! ZVA Construction is undoubtedly the best contractor I have ever used for home repairs. And this was a major job. And I never felt like he was trying to bleed me; the estimate was spot on. What an amazing contractor!
